„Interakcje” festival is an annual, prestigious meeting of the most important modern artists from all over the world.
It is the only one in Poland and one of the very few European annual festivals about widely considered art of performance. This event is permanently stuck to the list of the most important performance meetings of European range. It also is one of very few projects in the world, made so consequently every year.
This year there is going to be an 10th anniversary of Interakcje. To this edition the organisers have invited performers who had had the greatest influence on the development of The Event.
During the festival there are going to be presented: about 40 individual performances, special anniversary concert and series of lectures about art at high schools.
Every year we are trying to incerase the essential standards of the art we present. We pay attention especially to the global diversity caused by cultural variety of modern art. It's attainable by inviting artists from various countries. That's why we were able to see over 100 performers from over 20 countries including such distant and exotic ones like India, Thailand, New Zeland, Singapore, Canada, USA or Japan during past 9 edition of Interakcje.
Since 2005 every edition of Interakcje is made according to the individual warden program. This way helps to develop the festival, orders making decisions nad includes a bit of reflection about art. Programme made by the warden helps to reveal common point of view about art. This makes the event something more than just the list of names. This way enables us to see the variety of forms of modern art, something more than just individual artistic decisions but also new trends and influence of local cultures, civilizations and historical experiences. In the first year of making Interakcje this way Alastair MacLennan – artist, theoretician, organisator, profesor of School of Art and Design University of Ulster in Northern Ireleand was the warden. In 2006 Richard Martel – canadian artist, publisher, critic, founder of LE LIEU in Quebec presented his own warden programme. The warden of last year's festival was Thai artist Chumpon Apisuk.
Interakcje 2008 is going to be an attempt of resume all edition so far. We have invited artists who's performances had the greatest influence on developing essential standards of the past editions and shows the point of widely considered performance art around the world. Everyone of the invited is going to present at least one of his own masterpiece and that amount to at least 40 individual performances. The event consist also of theoretical and educational parts. We are going to organise panel moderated by the critics and theoretisians of art and series of lectures for high schools that referes about the part of art and artist at today's society presented by the artists and art critics. This year's festival for the sake of 10th anniversary is going to be splendored to the modern music concert that fits well to the programme of the event and is going to be appreciated by many other people than just Interakcje vievers. All performances during the festival are free of charge.
Since 2001 we have been organising some extra presentations of some chosen artists who take part in Interakcje in other cities of Poland eg. Warsaw, Cracow, Lodz Katowice and Bielsko-Biala. That makes more people interested in modern art able to see our performances.
Co-organisers of The Interakcje 2008 are: City Hall of Piotrkow Trybunalski, Stowarzyszenie Artystów Sztuk Innych w Warszawie, Fundacja Promocji Sztuki Performance „Kesher" w Krakowie, Galeria Działań w Warszawie, Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej Zamek Ujazdowski w Warszawie, Galeria Patio WSHE w Łodzi, Fundacja Sektor 1 z Katowic, Galeria Bielska BWA w Bielsku – Białej.
